The first Semester
Especially at the start of your study program, the colloquium (Module 1) is particularly important. Here you get to know your fellow students from your study group and you will be introduced to everyday life at university: this might be a tour of the campus or an introduction to using the university library, but also using the tools LSF and Moodle will be explained. Furthermore, the colloquium in the first semester introduces you to scientific work, i.e. it provides the theoretical and practical basis for the following semesters.
During your first semester you should attend five courses in all from the "Catalog of Selected Courses". Generally you can register for these courses online via LSF within certain deadlines. This process requires your UniMail-account and the corresponding password.
The UniAccount is like the digital master key to all the online tools at TU Dortmund University that you need for your studies.
With the activated UniAccount, you can use the following TU Dortmund University services and tools, among others: UniMail, LSF, WLAN, VPN, library and the internal pages of the ServicePortal.
You will receive access to your UniAccount with your enrollment documents. It is important to activate your account, otherwise you will not be able to receive your TU mail address, edit materials in Moodle or register for courses in the LSF.
If there are problems with the activation of the UniAccount, please contact the Service Desk of the ITMC.
Alternatively, you can also contact the Service and Advisory Team with the necessary documents and take the first steps on the computer together.
The IT & Media Centre (ITMC) offers secure access to the University's intranet via a so-called VPN (Virtual Private Network). The VPN access enables the use of intranet services of the university such as the library also via an external provider.
As an registered student to the Study Programme for Seniors, you are formally enrolled as a guest student at TU Dortmund University.
Access to TU Dortmund University courses also corresponds to this guest student status, so that regular students have first right of choice when free places to lectures or seminars are allocated.
